Addie Langford, Detroit: "4 Men at a Desk" mixed media

Addie Langford holds an MFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in architecture from The Rhode Island School of Design. As a Fulbright Fellow in 2006, Langford explored the relationship between Renaissance tapestry and contemporary collage in Madrid where she produced and exhibited a body of large-scale drawings. She pursues drawing in tandem with her sculptural work in porcelain and mixed-media. The most recent body of mixed-media drawings and sculpture is concerned with the nature of compression and complex systems, both physical and psychological.Addie has taught since 1999 ranging from large scale interactive projects with children to undergraduates at the School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Ms. Langford was the Assistant Director of the Art School at Flint Institute of Arts from 2007-2010, and is currently the President & CEO of the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center in Birmingham, Michigan.
